In the capital Ougadougou, a lagoon based biogas plant has been constructed with double floil membrane. Capacity 300 kWe. Input is brewery waste and manure.
Different projects were realised in the Netherlands; like extension of existing biogas plants with a second digester and/or replacement of CHP units.
Interesting is the use of existing natural gas CHP (Jenbacher) which has been used in a greenhouse complex, but adapted to biogas. The engine is removed and replaced with a factory engine, and combined with a new control cabinet. The generator is overhauled with new bearings. All the piping and frame is reused. In this way a brand new engine can be bought at 60% price of a complete new CHP.
I worked during 2019 and 2020 as interim-director of Groen Gas Gelderland BV. A large biogas plant in Bemmel, in the horticultural area Next Garden. With a team of 5 operators, a plant manager and a bookkeeper we produced around 7 million m3 biomethane/year. A difficult job as it meant we had to ensure enough biomass to produce around 35.000 m3 biogas per day / 25.000 m3 biomethane per day, keep the plant in good working conditions and look for improvements to lower total operational costs. In december 2020 Groen Gas Gelderland was acquired by Ellomay Capital ltd and contract ended.
I also did technical and financial due dilligence for a biogas project in the northen part of the Netherlands and keep on working on the injection of hydrogen to improve the performance of digesters.
